Turn Excel spreadsheets into clean, printable PDFs
Ask your AI assistant to turn an .xlsx or .xls file into a paginated PDF: headers on every page, wide sheets in landscape, page numbers.
What the PDF looks like
The same clean layout every time. Output: PDF.
- Each visible sheet starts on a new page, under its sheet name.
- The header row repeats at the top of every page.
- Portrait when the sheet fits; landscape for wider sheets; very wide sheets split across pages with the first column repeated.
- Values print exactly as Excel shows them: number, currency and date formats are kept, and numbers are right-aligned.
- Alternate rows are lightly striped, and every page has the sheet name and page number in the footer.
- Cell colors, fonts, charts and images are not reproduced, and hidden sheets, rows and columns are left out.
Excel to PDF questions
What does the PDF look like?
Each visible sheet starts on a new page with its name as a heading. The header row repeats on every page, numbers are right-aligned, rows are lightly striped for reading, and every page has the sheet name and a page number in the footer.
What happens with wide sheets?
Sheets that fit stay in portrait. Wider sheets switch to landscape, long text wraps inside its column, and sheets that are still too wide are split across extra pages with the first column repeated so every row stays identifiable.
Are formatting and charts kept?
Values are printed exactly as Excel displays them, including number, currency and date formats. Cell colors, fonts, borders, charts and images are not reproduced.
Are hidden sheets, rows and columns included?
No. Hidden sheets, rows and columns are left out of the PDF, so it shows only what is visible in Excel.
Which languages and scripts are supported?
The PDF font covers Latin, Greek and Cyrillic text. Characters outside those scripts, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic or Hebrew, are printed as "?" and you get a warning saying how many were replaced.
How are pages counted?
Each page of the generated PDF counts as one page of your monthly allowance. A spreadsheet can produce up to 20 PDF pages per file, from a file of up to 10 MB.
Where does this work?
Inside ChatGPT and Claude as an app/connector, and in any client that supports remote MCP servers, such as Cursor and VS Code. You ask in plain language, attach the file (or use the upload button), and get a download link.
What happens to my files?
Uploaded documents and the generated spreadsheets are stored only so you can download them, and are deleted automatically after 7 days. Documents may be read with AI models as part of the conversion.
